CSV Files: Downloading and Exporting

Last Updated: Nov 13, 2017 03:48PM EST
All of AgSquared's downloadable templates are formatted as CSV files to ensure that they will be compatible with whatever spreadsheet program you use.  CSV(Comma Separated Values) is a commonly and widely used file format for importing and exporting data.

Instructions for Downloading CSV Files

PC Users
To download a CSV file from AgSquared, you may need to "right click" the download the link and select "Save As...".  Once you have saved the file to your computer, open it directly from your spreadsheet program.
Note: If you try to open the link directly from the webpage, it may open as simple text(.txt) file which is not conducive for viewing or editing information.
Mac Users
In order to download a CSV template from Agsquared, "right click" the download link (by holding down the “control” button on your keyboard), and select “Save As...”.  The file name will be saved as a .txt document.  Open your spreadsheet program on your computer, go to "File > Open", and select the file.
Do you use Excel?
Depending on your version of Excel, you may be prompted to format a CSV file to ensure it is imported correctly.  To do so, follow the below 3 steps in the Text Import Wizard (the wizard should automatically pop up when you open the file from Excel):
Step #1
Set “Original data type” to Delimited.  Press Next>
Step #2
In the Delimiters window, select Comma.  Make sure no other delimiters are selected, and then press Next>

Step #3
Make sure that the General button is marked, and then press Finish.
After completing these steps, the file should import correctly into your Excel document.
